Why one door has two names
Concertina, accordion and folding door are the same thing in Australian usage. The word concertina describes the way the panels fold back on themselves, and it has been used here for the same door for decades. We keep both names because our customers do.
Where concertina doors earn their keep
They suit any room that needs to be two rooms sometimes and one room at other times, without a bottom track in the way. Laundries, pantries, hallways, studies, home offices, school classrooms, medical rooms and small offices all use them to divide space and keep the floor flat.
Materials and finishes
Vinyl is the most common face because it wipes clean and stands up to hands and trolleys. Fabric works where acoustics matter more than scuffs. Timber concertina doors are available where the room needs the warmth of real wood. Colours and finishes are chosen to suit the space.
Made to measure, not off the shelf
Every opening is measured on site before anything is made. That is how the out-of-square jamb, the bulkhead nobody mentioned and the exact stack space are discovered before manufacture, not on install day.
Lock, latch and pass-door options
A keyed or thumb-turn lead post is available where the opening needs securing after hours. On a wider run a pass door lets one person through without moving the whole door. These are worth specifying at measure time.
Straight, curved or angled track
The overhead track can follow a straight run, turn a corner or follow a curve, so a concertina door can close off an L-shaped room or follow the line of a bay window. Curved and angled tracks are set out from the site measure.
